Arctic Blast Cold Therapies- Information

   ArcticBlast

Cold treatment draws blood to the area, promoting healing and the removal of toxins.  It assists with the reduction of swelling, aids in pain relief and soothes tired and over worked limbs.

While often riders use ice in the treatment of tired legs, recent research suggests that the optimum temperature for effective cold treatment is 4 degrees C- ice is therefore too cold and can cause tissue damage, burns or prevent healing by restricting blood flow.  Evaporative cooling works by pulling heat out, not pushing cold in, creating a continuous rewarming of the top tissue by the deep tissue (preventing ice burns and damage) while achieving effective deep tissue cooling.

Best of all, they are re-usable and convenient.  Have on hand ready for use at competition or at home.

How to use Arctic Blast Bandages:

1.  if you have new bandages, tear open the resealable bag, squeeze excess liquid into the bag.

2.  Apply to your horses legs after strenuous exercise (polo, cross country, showjumping, endurance, racing etc).  Applying to damp legs will assist with the transfer of heat away from the horse's legs.

3.  20 minutes use is the recommended time for cold treatment, however Arctic Blast can be safely left in place for up to 2 hours, or until the bandage is dry, if desired.

4.  The bandages are elastic, and can be fitted quite firmly to offer support and compression for tired legs.  Do not turn out your horse while using the bandages, though you can walk him.

5.  Always gently ring out excess liquid to use next time.  The bandages need to only be wet, not dripping to be effective.

6.  Do not apply to open wounds.

7.  Do not freeze Arctic Blast Recharge or Bandages.

8.  After use, roll the bandage up and store in the resealable bag ready for next time.  They can be washed in a machine if desired up to 50 times, though handwashing will extend their life.

9. When ready to use again, pour the required amount of recharge into the bag.  Seal the bag and squeeze in your hand to help the bandage absorb the liquid.  After about a minute, open the bag, squeeze out the excess liquid and apply the bandage.
